Spirituality, What is it?

What is spirituality? My personal definition of spirituality includes the non-material or non-physical realities that exist in every human being and in nature. We are most definitely more than our physical bodies!

Spirituality as I understand it, includes concepts of God, the divine, the source of creation, or a higher power. The definition of this "something greater than one's self" I believe is personal and individual. Whatever is most comfortable for each person will do.

Spirituality for me also encompasses the parts of a human being that are non-physical. For instance, are thoughts a physical substance? No. Are emotions a physical substance? No. Is the person we know ourselves to be a physical substance? Not completely! Clearly, this is true if you consider your definition of self to include your thoughts and emotions. But what about this thing that some call the soul or higher self? What about Out-of-Body Experiences and astral travel, remote viewing and the like? Are these things evidence of our non-physical reality?

The answer to these questions are individual as well. Personally, I have had enough first hand experience with non-physical reality to have established a firm and unshakable belief in a very active, inhabited, and dynamic world beyond what we humans can ordinarily perceive with our senses. It is clear through the process of common sense observations and even new proofs from the field of science that ideas once thought to exclusively belong to the realm of faith, is now closer to fact.

So what is spirituality? To me it is the totality of the non-physical reality that exists inside, outside, and along with the existing reality that we perceive with our senses, our material world. It includes all things divine and all things unseen. It is a delight to interact with and a mystery at the same time.
